Peugeot Avenue
While at Peugeot Avenue for a meeting about the Oynx Superbike I took some photographs of the new Peugeot Lion mascot, created by my colleague Christophe Pialat, who is as crazy about about toys as I am about bikes, which is saying something. As there was Peugeots new kids pedal car, another cracking piece of design by another of my colleagues, Thomas Josson.

Bikes at the Paris Motor Show
I've already shared with you the Peugeot concept bikes that were presented at the 2012 Paris Motor show; the Peugeot Onyx, the eDL122 and eDL132. Peugeot also had on the stand one of the new City bikes that form part of the 2013 range. The bike addresses the challenge of creating a 'low step' frame that is also modern, clean and innovative. The single 50mm wide tube curves elegantly from the head tube right round to the seat tube, where the post is held in place by a unique, flush aluminium clamp. The bikes rear rack incorporates Peugeot's unique storage devise for the ABUS Bordo lock.

Peugeot Onyx Superbike
Some more shots of the Peugeot Onyx Superbike. The bike is finished in copper and satin black that match the other Onyx vehicles. I also wanted to recall the famous Peugeot chequer pattern and they arrear on the arm rests and saddle, as grip areas.
Some of the details are more clear in these images, specifically the integrated quick releases, the built in computer and switches for gears and computer in the aero bars.

Peugeot Onyx Concept Bike
This is the second concept bike I've designed for Peugeot. Launched today, it will form part of the display at the Paris motor show along side the Onyx supercar and scooter, all in the same copper and black finish.
I've been working on this Onyx Superbike for some time so that's lots to tell and lots I can't tell! At the moment it is a concept but it was created around the UCI regulations with the triple aim of being super aero, extremely easy to adjust ergonomically and, hopefully, super sexy. I wanted to hide the cables and brakes and create the cleanest possible look and aero performance for all sizes of riders.
There are some novel features, especially the completely flush quick release skewers, the 'flippable' seat post, hidden Di2 battery and the unique stem adjustment. The cockpit area is all unique, from the Peugeot chequer grips on the arm rest (repeated on the saddle) to the integrated brake and gear levers. There is also a glass blade computer, operated from a switch on the aero bars.

Peugeot Design Lab eDL122
We launched the eDL122 at Eurobike this week, as the centre piece of the Peugeot Cycles stand. There was a lot of interest after we launched the DL122 at the Geneva motor show, and some people suggested that it would make a great electric bike so for Eurobike I decided update the bike into an electric version. The battery is unique to us and is housed in the frame underneath the bag and drives an electric motor in the front wheel.
I took the chance to change the handlebars too, this time with unique brakes and shifters with the cables completely routed internally. On the left side there is a simple twist grip to control the motor which matches the gear selector on the right.

PEUGEOT fixie
Marie Claire Maison article. This was the first bike created by Peugeot Design lab. It's a fixie with a built in leather pouch to house an ipad or similar. The stand was the first object I got into 3D. Well if you're going to design bikes, you have to have somewhere to put them!
The bike is called DL121 and follows the naming code myself and Cathal Loughnane developed for our bike range. The DL stand for Design Lab and 121 means it the first bike of that type in the 2012 range. There is also a DL122 which I spoke about in my very first blog post.

SKY popular in France?
We all know that the french love their graffiti, but I saw this while cycling through a little village which was otherwise lacking in any spray can vandalism.
Is it just a coincidence it's in SKY blue or really an homage to the British pro team?

British Cycling Aero bikes
These photos were posted on the Cycling Weekly website but I found the link on Bicycle Design. The bike was ridden by the SKY riders of the GB team in the Olympic road race. They are the result of years of research by Chris Boardman's 'secret squirrel' division of the British Cycling team, built at the Advanced Composite Group facilities and designed by ex Greek track rider Dimitris Katsanis.
British Cycling have spent millions on creating success on the track and the basis of these bikes was born out of those efforts. Originally used by the likes of the great Chris Hoy on the track they have now been adapted for road use. They are mainly designed to be aero bikes but knowing the lengths that chris and the team go to I'm sure they excel in other areas, like stiffness and ergonomices.
Due to the rules, these bikes will have to be available to the public, but the costs, numbers and branding will be interesting to see.
One thing that should be noted, and was picked up by the posters on the Cycling Weekly site, they are not the most beautiful of bikes!
